"My first
experience with Valerie and Jennifer Yee (both guitar and vocals) was
back in the days The Vicious Sweet played in Berkeley. Their album Obsessively
Yours won the heart of this reporter with tracks like "Mocker" and
"Heather." Their new Spacious starts off saying goodbye to the
angry alternative and rock that Obsessively Yours had. Instead listeners
are greeted with a series of melancholy pop-rock songs. The term pop may
not do the band justice, because of the lack of bubble-gum or upbeat lyrics
and music generally associated with the genre. The music is very intimate,
with surreal vocals and clean guitars. But the elegance and musical talent
of the band members allows the songs to speak to several generations.
It's pop because everyone can fall in love with it. The songs get stuck
in your head and you're grateful for the experience."
