Take the hopeless, atmospheric chords of early Pearl Jam, make them a
little less depressing, and toss in a female vocalist (rather than Eddie
Vedder's monotone baritone). The music is moody to be sure, but these
San Francisco musicians seem to be keeping a close eye on the light at
the end of the tunnel. These songs compliment those days when you realize
you should have just stayed inside. It's like a new take on grunge, one
that's a little less narcissistic.

Connection / July 16-30, 2001 (issue 15)
Led by singer/guitarist Valerie Moorhead, this San Francisco quartet offer
a CD which shows the band's penchant for urgent, sensual, angsty, alternative
pop-rock not unlike Hole. While the ballad, "Standing Room," has a nice
vocal chorus section, we feel that "For The Only" is the strongest track
here, a mid-tempo, guitar-driven piece. Still, we can't help but think
the song's hook, while compelling as an intro theme, could be stronger
and sharper. Promising stuff, but overall, the band's songwriting needs
to come up a notch.
